17 months old

Dear Elle,

In the past month, we have discovered more and more devilishly cheeky side of you. Mealtime becomes more like play-with-your-food time. You pick up one by one from the tray, swing your arm and throw them to the floor. Even under our watchful eyes, you would sneak a piece hiding in your palm, rest your hand on the side of the booster seat, and silently drop it off from your hand while pretending looking around. Whenever we catch you red handed and warn you with a strict voice and stern look, you'll give us an innocent "Huh?" look as if the foods just drop off by themselves. Then you'll put the food into your mouth, eating like a baby with a good table manner. We could never hold up our stern face too long as your "pretend" good manner tickles our funny bone. The moment we break into uncontrollable laughter, you face lits up with glee and laugh cheekily with us.

You're very much into soup. Whenever there's soup in your meal, you'll keep hurrying up us saying "Soup Soup". When you say soup, you mean soup only. You check what's in the spoon coming towards your mouth. If you see a tiny pea, carrot or anything else other than soup in it, you would shake your head and raise your voice screaming "Soup Soup" to assure we understand SOUP ONLY. By the end of the meal, you'll always bottom up your soup bowl. Yeap, pick the bowl up with two hands and bottom up, then you'll turn the bowl upside down and say "No More".

The other night a TV commercial about baby proofing was on air while we were all hanging out on the couch. Your dada totally agreed with the ads and said if we were baby proofing we would be less worried to let you free roaming around. Seconds after your dada's speech, we saw you bounced on the couch, lost balance, your whole body tilted forward and had your head hit to the wall. While your dada was speechless and stared angrily at you crying your heart out, mama burst into laughter, wrapped you in my arms and mocked your dada how we're going to baby proof the wall given that you're such a clumsy baby. We always need to scream out "Look ahead" to warn you before you walk into a wall or trip over anything as you walk with your head looking back.

Not to mention the fun of turning on and off the faucet repeats gazillion times a day, we lose count of how many times you brush your teeth in a day. Whenever we place you on top of the basin counter, you'll grab your little red toothbrush and the toothpaste, flip the cap and then apply the toothpaste to your toothbrush, and put it into your mouth. The mint flavor perks you up, you giggle, open your mouth and let out a breath.

It's utterly cute to see you feeding cheerios to your teddy bear while talking a bunch of gibberish to her, putting the bottle at her mouth saying "Milk Milk" while you're having your bottle. The way you nurture your teddy bear make mama smile.

Do you know that when mama is at work, the moment your little voice coming through the phone saying, "Ha..looo, ma..ma..!", mama's heart melted and flooded with happiness? Whenever mama's shedding crocodile tears, you would snuggle up on my chest, lean your cheek against mine until mama stops crying. Even though there are a billion little shitty moments every day, you make it all worthwhile! You're the most wonderful gift given to us, shower us with greatest joys and challenges only a parent would understand. I become a mama I never thought I could be.

Happy 17 months old, my sweetheart.

Love,
Mama

ieeee, I won't say I'm a good mom per se. I'd let her cry inside the crib for a few minutes so that I could sleep in for extra few minutes. I'd trick her to make her burst into tears purposely.

No doubt that I love her to death.

What more can I say, she's as cute and athletic as usual... :)

Dg, it's getting harder to capture her expressive face nowadays. I'm getting more of her turning her back on me, looking away from me, or totally ignore of me shots.
