Happy flower, not so happy baby

The white blooms caught my eyes while I was driving to the library. I pulled over to this little neat park to get up close and personal with the blooms. Wow, they're daisy. I love their simplicity and brilliant yellow in the center.

Elle was happily plucking the flower petals for the first few minutes. After that, I kept getting this cranky and weepy faces. She just stood here refuse moving at all. Finally, mama gave in.

Early walker shoe

Elle always goes bare feet or wear socks when going out. We're pretty surprised to get comments of why baby no wear shoes a lot.

Now Elle is in the transition from crawler to early walker, so we're in the mission of looking for her 1st shoe. Oh boy! Aren't those branded baby shoes like Robeez or Bobux cost an arm and a leg?! There's no way for me to pay $30 to $50 bucks for a pair of baby shoes no matter how best it's for the baby.

I was overjoyed to find some good deals of rubber sole shoes in Target store. However, none of them fitted well and I was literally spilling sweats just to get her feet into those shoes. Well, so much for the stupid shoe design and her wriggly toes! Finally I found the Ministar's soft leather sole shoes which fit just right, stay put and most importantly she's happy to wear them. It's a good start for this early walker who walks like a drunken sailor.

Sidewalk Chalk

When I picked up Elle at the daycare today, the staff told me that she had a blast playing in the sandbox this afternoon. That explained the note of "Elle needs sunscreen!" on the daily activity sheet.

Not so sweet blood draw

Elle had lead screening this afternoon. She got a few lousy pokes on both arms before successfully drawing one full tube of blood out of it. Poor baby screamed her heart out and shivered in pain.

Beachcomber

The babies were having their first beachcombing experience. It's a gorgeous hot and humid day to spend at the beach. The water was very cold when we first dipped our feet into it though. Elle and Michelle were so curious and afraid at the same time of the sand and water. It took little time for them to start enjoying themselves. Oh boy, Michelle was a riot. She kept bending over trying to grab the sand underneath the water and splashing the water with both hands and legs as if she's trying to swim already. It's funny to see her stripped down to diaper, diaper to naked butt, and finally to bare-naked. Elle was not as adventurous as Michelle. She's happy with sitting on the beach playing with her shover and bucket and not so crazy over dunking herself into the water. Thanks goodness that they're not into eating sand at all!

We can tell there's a friendship bond established between these two babies. They enjoy each other company, interacting and playing with each other. They both made sad faces at the time we bid farewell.

Memorial weekend BBQs

Elle passed out with a big round belly after two BBQs feast in a row today. She had a blast, met lots of people and a newbie - Rusty. Seeing her love-scare relationship with this little puppy is just priceless. Rusty kept jumping up on her and stole a lick or two from her.

Playhouse

Elle was having heaps of fun playing in the playhouse at the library this afternoon. She made a mess inside out, banging pots and pans, getting in and out like a busy bee. I can imagine the day of her having a pretend play tea set party is not far along.

Wibbly Wobbly Walk

Elle starts walking now! She gets lots of cheers, Ooh and Aah as she's walking wobbily towards us. The cuteness factor of wobbly baby steps is off the charts!

Round

Love playing with the shape sorter with a twist. She always and only picks the round shape out of the cube. That's the only shape she can always put in correctly without coaxing. She gets super excited for every success attempt. It's funny to see her getting all frustrated trying to put shapes other than round correctly into the cube. Most of the time, she just threw them away without much patience.

B & N

This mischevious one found so much fun in rocking her body back and forth in the highchair making noises. Love drinking water out of the plastic cup. At a close up of the pictures, you can see she's happy as a clam spilling the water out of the cup by shaking it.

My 12-mos-old

Holding the water inside her mouth with cheeks puffed out and then gradually let it out running down to her chin.

Showing signs of sleepiness by babbling like a drunken sailer with legs and hands throwing in the air or laying flat on the floor sucking her thumb.

Putting the cap back to the bottle when she doesn't want any more milk.

Getting all excited when seeing the medicine syringe. Love eating medicine, lip smacking for more!

Treating herself to snacks if she found any bag of chips laying around on floor, on the coffee table or shelf. She'll haul the whole bag to us asking for help when she can't get the chips out of the bag.

Love opening the bottommost drawer of her dresser, digging out stuffs from the drawer and making a messy spread all over her room. She has a thing to her swimming suit that she always pick it out from the drawer and then crawl with it. The most amazing stun I have seen is her crawling with two 1-gallon empty water jars, one in each hand.

Fascinated by the vent grille and goes crazy brushing her fingers all over it, making icky scratching noises.

Crazy over the computer tower placed on the floor. Pushing the power button on and off, flipping the door cover open and close, gazillions time a day.

Moving real fast on her hand and knees the moment she sees us at the other far side. Off she goes thump thump thump thump racing on her fours towards us and shrilling "Uhh~~ uuh~~ uuh~~".

Perfecting the classic Over-my-dead-body act: throwing herself on the floor, screaming and sobbing. If we ignore the drama she puts up for too long, she'll turn her back on and crawl away from us.

Screaming "Weeee~~~" when throwing stuffs in the air and bumping her lion push toy to the wall.

Dragging her lion push toy to the toilet.

Daycare snippets

During morning snack time, baby Anna was trying to steal a piece of corn muffin from Elle's tray, immediately Elle roared with bestial vigor at her. >o<

Picking up Elle in the evening, mama wanted to take a few snaps of Elle at the daycare. Baby Jordan burst into tear right after mama taking the 1st shot. Poor baby! She looked really sad about the camera thingy. Baby Jordan is going to be 1 year old tomorrow. Happy birthday, J!

Another

doze-off moment at the dinner table tonight. This time round, her eye lids were getting heavy and sliding shut while she was eating bread. It's hilarious that even with her eyes closed, she would pick up another bread on the tray and continued eating when she has finished the one on her hand. It's pretty impressive.

Roar

Elle loves this lion push toy. She shrills in joy and her face lights up instantly whenever she's pushing behind it. She loves touching the lion's soft nose. It blinks, gives a mighty roar and plays musics.

Old Country Buffet

Elle was such a curious baby enjoying watching people around while we were having dinner at the OCB. It's very entertaining seeing her expressive way of eating. She enjoyed the green bean, pasta, cupcake, and watermelon the most.

Happy Mother's day!

This is the craft Elle made at the daycare for mama on this special day. She's leaving her tiny fingerprints all over.

I wish all mamas out there have a wonderful Mother's day! Y'all doing a great job!

Michelle is 1 too!

Mamas and babies were out celebrating Michelle's 1st birthday. The babies were very excited about the merry-go-round carousel. First we rode on the upper level. Since it's too much fun, we went for 2nd round on the lower level again. Mamas felt a little dizzy after the ride. Next, it's the Happy Meal time! The babies were having juice, hamburger and fries! Michelle is really good at drinking from a straw! Babies loved the toys came with the happy meals. It's a cute pinkish pocket mirror with a comb. Very cool! Then, mamas did some shopping and the babies took a nap inside the stroller. After shopping we're ready to fill up our stomach with a buffet. Surprisingly mamas well-handled two babies siting across each other eating in their highchair. Thanks TY for having us. We had lots of fun! Happy Birthday, Michelle!

Dinner time

Today's dinner is roasted chicken, broccoli and rice. Elle finished them all. Oh mine! She even picked up the plate and licked it clean, front and back!

Heart

This morning right after Hin dropped off Elle at the daycare, he called me saying "I don't want baby anymore". He said Elle was such a heartless baby that she was so excited to start her craft activity that she didn't even care or take a peep at him when he was going to leave. Dada was heartbroken.

On the contrary, I had a heartwarming moment with Elle yesterday. I let her playing on the floor while I was sitting on the chair talking on the phone. After a while, she came over leaning against my legs yi-ya yi-ya talking to me. She held out her hands wanna mama holding her. I carried her up and immediately she wrapped her hands around my neck laying her head against my shoulder and stared at me quietly talking on the phone. Mama have never felt so needed before. It's a touchy-feely moment to me.

12 months old

Dear Elle,

Happy 1 year old, baby! Mama hopes you love what we have planned out for you, ZOO, to celebrate your big day.

Aren't giraffes the cutest? Their slurpy wriggly tongues look just like yours. You acted so wary in the attack of their tongues and smiled sillily at them from a safe distance. It's funny to find you showed equally keen interest to the people and kids around, as if human being is one of the main attractions in the zoo.

One year ago today, you came into the world in a 30 minutes whirlwind. We never knew such a tiny little baby is bundled with so much joys and loves until the moment you came. We're blessed to have you. Happy Birthday!

Love,
Mama

Little wobbler

This evening, we hung out in the park swinging and soaking up the gorgeous sunshine. While I was lazing on the grass, Elle stood up and cruised around the stroller. A moment later I found her pushing the stroller and walking behind it as if the stroller is a push walker toy. I jumped on my feet and cheered for her pushing the stroller one round and another. She was so excited and having heaps of fun! Oh mine! How I wish I had my camera to capture this great moment!

Elle shows lots of interest in walking lately. She is making more steps on her own now, walking a few steps and then holding on something cruising around.

1st Birthday Party

Throwing a party is not something right up our alley. The thought of we should have celebrated Elle's birthday just the three of us, kept crossing our mind.

The night before the party did not start off good at all. Elle had diarrhea, 5 times, throughout the day. She was screaming and crying all night long until she finally drifted into sleep at around 11 p.m. We were pretty exhausted by then. I finally had time to get on my ambitious plan to make Elle her 1st birthday cake, a fancy 3-layered strawberry mousse charlotte cake. My confidence started to ebb away by the time I sliced the cake into 3 layers. The texture of the sponge cake was so coarse and it tasted so oily. After struggling with my inner self for a while, I just dumped the fruit of 12 eggs and several hundred grams of flour into the trash can. I went to tell Hin that we need to get Elle's a birthday cake tomorrow morning. He gave me the look and said I told you so!

This morning started off early juggling with the little one, preparation, cooking, buying a cake, picking up balloons and sushi. An unforgettable incident happened during the sushi pick-up. I was talking to Hin on the cell when I was going to leave D&W after picking up the sushi. Out of a sudden, I heard someone screaming and saw a man waving aggressively from my rear mirror. Then there's car horn sounds. My first reaction was am I in the way of something and immediately I pressed hard on the gas pedal and drove away. I was really puzzled what was going on and kept looking back my rear mirror. The man was still waving his two hands back there. At that moment, I saw an object sliding from my rear window to the top of the trunk. OMG! It's my sushi tray! Immediately, I turned the car into an alley to rescue my sushi. Thanks goodness! It stayed put on top of the trunk in perfect shape. Later on, I found my cell thrown on the other seat and Hin was still remaining on the other side of the line. My mind was so clouded, overloaded with stuffs then. Looking back, it sounds pretty funny now.

I'm amazed that we were right on time to get things transported to the club house around 1 pm. Thanks to Jessie and her family's big help. Hin was pretty much taking care of everything during the party and mama just needed to be with Elle enjoying friends' company. We had a blast and a few dramas like the balloons were stuck at the high-ceiling fan, and we found Elle's hair clip inside Michelle's mouth. The party hit high note at birthday cake time and Elle in her pink tutu I made for her. She looked so cute wobbling in her puffy tutu.

The party ended at around 6 pm with a few friends leaving behind. The guys, among them were 3 engineers, brain-cracking ways to free the balloons tangled around the ceiling fan. At first they used an extension duster trying to unravel the tangled ribbons, but with little progress made. Then, they tied the birthday cutting knife to the end of the duster attempting to cut off the ribbons. Holy moly, people at the downstairs were Oooh and Aaah and dodging when the knife was flying by. It's like a circuit show. Finally the balloons were freed and retrieved with a few floating around. They came out the stunt of throwing the duster knife up in the air to poke the balloon. Viola! Mission accomplished. Elle was pretty entertained with the show the guys put up.

We were dog-tired after the party. Elle conked out after taking a bath and having a bottle of milk.

Thanks to all the friends joining us celebrating Elle's 1st birthday.
