18 months old
Dear Elle,
Recently you act like a lil' person with your own mind. Whenever we ask you if you would like to do something or want something, immediately your lil' head shaking vigorously around and the word "NO" spits out of your mouth. To spice it up even more dramatic, you'd put your palm on your right cheek, as if someone having a bad toothache, growling NO! NO! NO!. Oh, that serious face, the stubborness trait in you! Mama could begin to imagine all the ittsy bitsy and biggie things you'd fight against us when you grow into the rebellious teen years.
We're wowed by your command tone of saying S.I.T! You tell us where you want to sit, pointing your finger at the seat like a little bossy person. When we deliberately ignore your request, the inner whiny beast inside you growling and you're all arm failing and leg stomping.
There has been a vocabulary explosion in you for the past month. Everyday you'd climb onto us and begin your "show and tell". You poke into our eyes saying "EYE", push down our noses saying "NOSE", point our mouth saying "MOUTH", flip our lip and touch our teeth saying "TEETH", pull both our ears saying "EAR", and knock our head saying "HEAD". You have so much fun doing this over and over again that it hurts a little bit, just a teeny bit, from all the pulling and pushing all over our face. Oh, the sweetness tone of you saying "Pleeasse" melts our heart. You crack us up screaming "HELP ME! HELP ME!!" when you're in trouble. Your curiousity accompanies with the question of "What's that?" is wondrous. You finally embrace the word "Pumpkin" and no longer call pumpkin as "apple". You love calling the word "turtle"; however, mama not so sure you relate the word to the real turtle.
When you want a hug, you say "bao bao". When you want to sleep, you say "oau oau". When you see pretty things, you say "mei mei". When you want to poop, you say "Hmmmm Hmmmmm". When you want a horsey back ride, you yell "ko ko meh". You call "mumm mumm" to all the foods you don't know their name or when you're hungry. There're many more sweet words you utter that mama wish to jot all down.
You're simply a baby full of blooper moments. The funniest, by far, is, one night you wandered to the balcony sliding door, leaned your body towards by putting both your hands against the screen door as usual. We heard a loud thump noise and saw you falling through the door and crying on your fours. Until then only we realized that the screen door had been slided open. It was dark, and you didn't realize the screen that shielded you from falling was no longer there, and you fell unexpectedly. We had quite a good laugh about it. Yes, you looked silly indeed. Mama never gets tired of telling your silly act with macaroni. You hold it up and put it next to your ear saying Halo. Oh dear, you look so hilarious that we laugh till the tears spill. On second thought, macaroni does resemble the look of a phone handle. After all, you have a imaginative mind where possibilities are endless.
Twirling is the most exicting physical milestone of the month. You twirl around in a little circle, look all cutesy and lovely. Mama believes in no time you'll spin like a wild kid with hair flying out.
Happy 18 months old! We love you, muak!
Love,
mama

It was a glorious sunshine day, unusual warm in late autumn, to play in the playground. She'd gone crazy running around and hopping up and down.
